The Conejos is fishing! Water temps to 46 degrees in the afternoon and fish have been eating mayfly nymphs with consistency. The fish have been beautiful and averaging around 15" the last 2 days. Yesterday caught 2 beautiful Rainbows the rest have been very healthy Browns 14 to 17 inches. There were several fish working the surface on friday and we hope to see more of this as the water continues to warm. With that said even if you do not see any fish working the surface a good presentation with an attractor dry will bring some fish up. It is common on the Conejos to not see fish working the surface consistently but to have a great day fishing a dry fly. I just recommend skipping the indicator right now because the water is low and most water is no deeper than 3 feet so I think a dry fly is a better "indicator" right now than something big, colorful, and to obvious. This is as close to having your own 50 mile private trout club to yourself as you will ever get! Good Luck Jon Harp
