getting into some afternoon showers(lighting storms)...
I was reminded that I have not done a report this week. So, heres an brief I have been using for those of you that have emailed me.
...working to hard and no fishing.
Sorry, I have been wanting to do an update, but working hard. Here is what I wrote to another guy. I wrote this up on Monday. Check with 719-376-5881 foxcreekstore@earthlink.net - Randy can give you a current update. With the monsoon season coming on, best we have had in a few years; I expect the fishing should be good. I will be going sometime this weekend. So, I will post my finding.
I always have a good 100 dry flies on hand but, you never know exactly what's hot. Like today we had some stones and Green Drakes on the wing with a huge Yellow Sally hatch mixed with Sinners and Blue Duns. I was out of Green Drakes and my Yellow Sally did not match the hatch exactly, so I had to stop off and get a few flies.
Some basic patterns like #12-16 Adams and Blue Duns are always good standbys for dry. Nymphs 12-16 pheasant tail nymphs weighted and emergers.
Most of the really good action is further up past the Hwy 17 bridge heading up to Platoro. South Fork down is having Green Drakes and Yellow Sally's, so I would guess by the time you're up here the Drakes and Sally's would be in the upper meadows below the Platoro community. A Dirty ride but well worth it.
Remember to checkout BlueFlycafe.com for those quality handtied flies. -good guys cheap flies, but don't forget FoxCreek is a reel Fly shop.
