Weather:Sunny

Report:

Windy and Looking for rain 32-80 Day temp....

Stones (red-orange body) are quickly moving up into the meadows above Specter Lake Campgrounds. Nymphs are getting most of the action in general. And some reports of large Cuts and Browns have been coming around. I myself caught a beautiful 15 inch cut on a dry fly #12 pale dun.

Water flows are coming down an average of 3 inch per day over the past few days. Getting ready for the day when Dry Fly action is Supreme. Looks like the next few weeks will really be good for the Dry Fly action around Menkhaven to the Aspen Glade Campground area then moving up towards Platoro. And if it would just rain for a few hours we could see some really great action.

Platoro is in great condition (re-stocked), so we hope that there will be a steady flow though out the summer, making this year a quality fly fishing season. Meadows upper and lower look great. Water temperature is still cold, but in the diverted water flows you can find some early morning action. Upper lakes are still freezing over night, so we did not venture to Kerr Lake. Roads are rough buckle up for a roller coaster ride.

A side note on diversity of the area. I went up to the Meadows above Platoro Lake (a beautiful view) and got into some fun action with suckers. This is something I have never done, but was a lot of fun. They can really rip the line for the first few minutes, but land poorly.

Once again call Randy and Betty for an update at the Fox Creek Store if youre coming in.

As I said, ''Looking for Rain;'' we still have not had any in this area. So, use caution when fire or flammable material is concerned. -That includes parking cars on grass.
